| | ABOUT MARISHA | | Every morning Marisha opens her e-mail to see what new challenge awaits her. With her busy websites there are always requests for home or loft listings, evaluations of properties, or questions about various aspects of real estate. This is light years away from her small town beginnings...
Marisha was born in Poland in a small village of Wadowice (at the foothills of Carpatian Mountains). At a tender age of 11 she lost her mother and her teenage years were strongly influenced by her strict but loving father, a lawyer. He did not marry again and cared for his two young daughters with a help from a live-in housekeeper - loving and loyal Bronia whose only small vices were her inability to cook, clean or wash clothes... These were more than compensated by her generous and loving nature and her devotion to the family.
Father passed to Marisha and her younger sister Kathy his love and knowledge of nature and passion for walking. They took daily walks in the fields, and during these walks dad taught them to recognize wheat from rye or barley well before they develop, barely out of the ground. He taught them to recognize fertile ground by the prevailing weeds, and to be able to predict weather listening to bird song or looking at mountains and seeing them appear closer or farther away.
Marisha always loved challenges, and faced many in her youth as one of just a handful female equestrians in Poland.
She graduated from university as a land surveyor, and worked in that field until leaving Poland. That job did not come without its challenges, as one of the major undertaking of the time was consolidation of arable grounds. That involved measuring the fields, designing new boundaries for the farms taking into account the size, quility and uses of the many pieces the individual farmers owned, and then negotiating with the farmers to get the re-distributed grounds accepted.
Marisha was abroad when the Martial Law was imposed in her country, and came to Canada where she had family, leaving all her possessions behind. She started a new life here with no language, and attended English classes at a local library. After a year of studying language she took engineering courses at the Ryerson University. As it was with every challenge, she worked hard and finished her courses at the top of the class.
In 1987 Marisha began her new career in real estate. She enjoys working with people from all walks of life and a wide variety of professions. She feels very fortunate, as most of her clients become her friends in the process of purchasing or selling their homes. She also loves modern technology and is very comfortable in all aspects of Internet marketing.
Marisha’s love for nature shows with her choice of vehicle. On most days, unless she has to drive more than one client, you will see her in her yellow SMART. Marisha enjoys literature, theatre, visual arts and music. She has served for many years on the board of directors of Toronto Sinfonietta, whose website she still maintains and updates. She is passionate about real estate, enjoys helping people and is always looking for a new challenge.
